Michael Cupps Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on May 7, 2014.
Michael Joseph Cupps was born September 29, 1992 at Rolling Hill Hospital in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He lived with his family in Northeast Philadelphia in the area known as Lawncrest, where he played with his siblings Jessica, Daniel, and David, as well as his many cousins who were also amazing friends of his. He also had many friends in the area like Lucia Sivetta and classmates from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School where he had been educated until 1998 when the Cupps family moved to another neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia known as Somerton. In Somerton throughout his life he made friends with many neighbors like the Tucci family, Kindle family, the Zakrzewsky family well as many others. There in Somerton Michael attended Loesche Elementary School where he excelled academically at an extremely above average level. It was there he received the Congressional Award for achievement in academic and civil excellence. He was such a young genius they skipped him from 3rd to 5th grade; and in his 6th grade took his SATs for John Hopkins University, because of how ahead of his age he was mentally. He then graduated from Loesche, and had been accepted to MaST Community Charter School, where he continued to excel in education until graduation from 12th grade and made most of the best friends he ever had. Friends like Ryan Miller, Neil Harmer, Alyssa Feldman, Trevor Murphy, Kurosh Makki, Amybeth Mackay, Dan Budnicki, Steve Cirino, Nick Harkins, Bobby Sutliff, Cassie Marshall, Sev Henhalo, Nester Blilestskii, Myke Gopka and so many more people that shouldn't feel bad not to be named. Mike loved to listen to almost every genre of music especially lyrically technical hip hop music and progressive classic rock. His brother and him played guitar together in the early years of their playing, and he rapped in hip hop songs with his brother Dan and his cousin Nick who was a really great cousin and thought very highly of Mike. Michael thought very highly of his elder siblings Jess, Dan, and Dave with whom he spent many happy times with throughout his life. His parents Susan and David loved him with such a fierce passion it touches all of us with deep feelings of resolve and hope. They gave him such a beautiful life that he was always unbelievably grateful for. His hobbies were also a big part of his life. He was a huge film buff of all genres especially comedy and above all else he loved video games. His main recent goal in life was to eventually go to school to learn how to make his own video games. He also loved going on vacations with his family to Disney World, Cancun, and Myrtle Beach, as well as many trips to the Jersey shore every summer. Dark times also occurred as they do with all human beings. Mike's struggle with addiction caused a lot of pain in his friends and family, and in himself. The problem occurred sporadically for a few years. He had issues coping with sadness and depression, and tried to find an escape in the wrong choices like many of his peers. Mikes friends and family tried to help him, and for long gaps of time he succeeded in momentarily conquering the beast inside him. Michael in no way saw his death coming, he was just trying to find a release from the same stress we all feel when dealing with the mysteries of life. He will be dearly missed, cherished, and thought of with the highest regard and respect anyone of us could ask for in our own legacies. It's time to say goodbye to his vessel, and hello to his spirit.
