Remembering Mike Daughety feels a bit like remembering a whole era - one filled with sharp wit, quick laughter, and a kind of steady courage you don´t see every day. He was funny in that perfectly dry way that caught you off guard, smart in the way that made the rest of us step up our game, and fearless in every room he walked into.
He wasn´t just the best anesthesiologist I ever knew - he was the best many of us will ever know. The one who set the standard. The one you´d trust without a second thought. The one who made a tough day lighter and a complicated case feel manageable.
And for me, he was more than all that - he was my mentor. A steady hand, a clear voice, and someone who believed in me long before I learned to believe in myself.
His impact stretches far beyond the work he did. It lives in the people he guided, the lives he touched, and the stories we´ll keep telling about him for years to come.
A good man. A brilliant mind. A fearless spirit. And a friend I´ll always be grateful for.

I met Mike 30+ years ago... he actually turned out to be my mentor here in the Irving area doing Anesthesia. To this day I use a lot of techniques and ideas I got from Mike in my practice. Mike lives on....
