Michael David Ditter age 62, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Born in Plymouth, Wisconsin to the late Marilyn and Eugene Ditter, the youngest of four children. In time, both of his parents remarried, and Michael gained four additional half siblings that he also loved and cherished. He was a caring and dedicated husband of 35 years; also, an amazing father and grandfather, who deeply cherished his family. He served in the United States Armed Forces with the National Guard for 9 years where he received an honorable discharge. For the end of his career, he worked for Oliver Racing Parts as a machinist for many years. His career was making connecting rods for racing cars, until retiring in 2013.
He loved music. Every reminiscent conversation was always brought back to a certain album or a concert attended, that shaped his life and helped him get through whatever multitude of problems he was dealing with in that moment. He used music as therapy and would talk to anyone that would listen about his knowledge of names, song titles, and even what note the guitarist was playing. His all-time favorite album came out when he was just 11 years old, The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. For years, this album remained a quintessential adolescent rite of passage for him. He also instilled a great passion for music into each of his children.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn McKinster; his father, Eugene Ditter; His brother, Thomas Ditter; his sister, Marjean Boots; brother-in-law Andy Boots; sister-in-law Wendy Radtke and his nephew, Anthony Ditter.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jackie Ditter; two sons, Michael (Lindsay) Ditter; Alex Ditter; and one daughter, Melissa (Adam) Beadle. Six Grandchildren, Andreux; Bailey; Nathan; Ethan; Matthew; and Adam Jr. One Brother, Steven (Cindy) Ditter; 3 half-sisters, Lori Ditter; Tammy Ditter; Carole (Melvin) Oakley; and one-half brother David Radtke.
A celebration of life will take place Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 from 6:30PM-8PM at Oakview Community Church located at 4242 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525

It has been along time since I have seen Mike, but I always remember what a soft spoken, nice guy he was. I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out today that Mike passed. My thoughts and prayer to Mikes family and friends. Mikes Dad Gene and my Mom Mary Ann were siblings.

Mike I love you. I always remember you as gentle. When we lived on South Milwaukee Street Plymouth you told me there were reindeer on the roof. You were the tooth fairy under my pillow. I miss you. Carole.
