M
ichael (Mick) Rodney Dreiling was born in Denver, Colorado to Michael A. Dreiling and Pauline R. Dreiling (Hepp) on October 2, 1942. He spent his early years in Mead, Colorado before moving to a farm outside of Brighton.
He attended school in a one-room schoolhouse and then attended Brighton High School where he graduated and met his loving wife, Doris Schissler. After high school, Mike attended Northeastern Junior College and spent some time in Oklahoma furthering his education before moving back to Colorado. He and Doris came back to Brighton, Colorado when their son, Michael "Ty" was born. They eventually moved to Hudson in the late 1960s and their daughter, Kimberly, was born.
Hudson became his home, where he farmed and raised livestock. There was a multitude of crops over the years. Alfalfa, grass, and corn were the main crops he raised, but he had also ventured out and grew barley, wheat, oats, peppers, pinto beans, squash, sugar beets, potatoes, pumpkins, parsnips, tomatoes, spinach, and sweet corn. He kept a few cattle at times, had sheep and a hog farm, too. In addition to farming and livestock, Mike sold Zimmatic sprinklers, got his real estate license, owned a liquor store and the Longhorn restaurant in Hudson, Colorado.
Over the years, Mike enjoyed several outdoor activities including goose hunting in the winter months and camping/fishing with family and friends in the mountains at Lynx Pass and Yampa. Along with boating at local/private lakes that were a part of the Farmers Gun Club where he was president for a time. He also loved supporting his kids in all their school sporting activities.
He passed away peacefully at Meadowview Senior Living of Greeley on May 28, 2025. He made many friends during his time there. He received excellent care from the staff who became friends and family to him as well as the Dreiling family.
He is survived by his children, Ty (Tara) Dreiling and Kimberly Spayd, grandchildren, Taylor Dreiling (Tessa Gaston), Tamber (Emilio) Arvizo, Tate Dreiling, Elizabeth Spayd, Emily Spayd, great-grandson, Meiko Arvizo, his sisters, Sandy Medina and Mary Kay (Larry) Eversman and sisters-in-law, Freda Dreiling, Carol Odenbaugh, Norma Schumacher and Margie Herndon. As well as several nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerry, Jim and Dave, his loving wife Doris, son-in-law, Keith Spayd, sister-in-law, Debra Dreiling, and brother-in-law, Danny Medina.
