Michael Darrell Ellis, “Mike,” cherished son, beloved brother, and loving friend, age 36, found eternal peace on October 20, 2024, with his esteemed loved ones by his side after a brief illness at Charleston Area Medical Center – Memorial, located in Charleston, WV.
Mike was born on March 18, 1988, to Darrell and Jackie Ellis in Bluefield, WV. He came into this world fighting like the dickens and went out the same way. Mike was a graduate of Rocky Gap High School and South West Virginia Community College where he earned his associates degree. Mike was a faithful employee of the Celanese Corporation as a Chemical Plant Process Expert in Narrows, VA, where he not only worked but gained a small family. Everyone knew that Mike had a passion for trucks and rebuilding them that was as deep as his love for his friends and family. He had a knack of making everyone feel like family, and his circle of friends was as vast as the open road. Mike was known for his attitude, unwavering loyalty, and was really a true friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and ability to help those around him become better will be deeply missed. Mike had one of the biggest hearts, and always tried to help people who were down. He was passionate about advocating for men’s mental health and was a giver and loved people the way his mom, Jackie, did. He was a true believer in Christ, even when times were hard, he showed people how to be a follower of Christ and encouraged people to stand on faith despite the challenges of this lifetime. He also loved children and was “Uncle Mike” to his friend’s children and especially his niece Teigan.
Mike is now safely in the arms of God in a new pain free body, with a peaceful mind, and no more sorrow. Celebrating with him are those preceding him in death including his much-loved and missed mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cherished friend Terry Heath, and other friends and family that he has longed to see for some time.
Mike is survived by his father, Darrell Ellis and fiancé Denise, of Princeton WV, and sister Erica Danielle-Ellis Graham and husband Anthony, and niece Teigan of Bluefield, WV. His best friend and brother, Jeremy Pennington who never left his side, even in the end, and wife Jena, and his girlfriend and special helpmate, Audreyonna; as well as other very close friends and “brothers” and work family that are too many to mention but all who love and will miss him deeply.
