Michael Evancho, 94, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home.
Michael was born November 30, 1930 in Monessen, Pa. to John and Sophie (Bizaha) Evancho and had been an area resident most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a Tool and Die Machinist at Ford Motor for 39 years, retiring in 1995. He was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Byznatine Catholic Church and the United Auto Workers.
Michael was a master wood crafter and made the most beautiful and amazing creations for family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife MaryAgnes (Ostetrico) in 1990 and siblings Anna Zelenak, Sophia Evancho, William Evancho and John Evancho. He is survived by his children Michelle Evancho-Chapman (Damien), Mark J. Evancho and Mariea Anna Madea; grandchildren Cassandra Chapman PharmD, Amelia Chapman Rose DO (Dr.Benjamin), Aurora Madea, Jeanette Brunsdon and sister-in-law Ida Ostetrico; brother-in-law Charlie Ostetrico (Cheryl) and nieces Ginger Pollack and Mary Ellen Evancho.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 2 to 5PM at the Anthony Funeral Home Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. where a Parastas will be held at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1051 Robinson Avenue, Barberton, OH 44203. Interment St. Michael Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity, cause or organization of your choice.
