Michael V. Evola
Michael "Mickey" Evola, age 84, of Ballston Spa, New York, formerly of Frankfort, New York, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 10, 2025. Mickey was born on January 25, 1941, in Herkimer, New York, to Rose and Anthony Evola. His family later moved to Rome, New York, where he attended and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1960.
On October 20, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Molly (Murray) Evola. Together they built a loving home in Frankfort and shared a lifetime of memories. Mickey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Molly, and their three children; Michael (Jacqui) Evola, Mary Alice (Kyle) McCraith, and Tony (Heather) Evola. He was also close to his special niece, Amie Thomson. Mickey was the proud grandfather of Ashley Evola, Alex McCraith, Anthony Evola, Madison McCraith, and Michael Evola, and the joyful great-grandfather of Grayson McCraith, Kapri Evola, and Maverick Loy. He is also survived by his loving sister, Mary Lou (Jerry) Hilow.
Mickey worked at Remington Arms in Ilion, New York, for 37 years, from 1962 until his retirement in 1999. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and deep knowledge of the gunsmith trade, especially his work on high-end firearms. He also served as administrator of the Moose Lodge in Ilion and found great enjoyment in recreational sports, particularly golf and bowling.
Mickey will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation located at 109 West Street, Ilion, New York 13357. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort.
