Michael H. Finnegan

Michael H. Finnegan, 80, of Florence Township, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 21, 1944, in Amherst, Ohio, to Farrell and Gertrude (McQueen) Finnegan. Michael graduated from Firelands High School where he was active in Future Farmers of America, Class of 1963, and became a proud member of the Local 42 Pipe and Steam Fitters Union. Alongside his career, Michael and his wife Susan devoted their lives to farming, a way of life he truly loved.
On August 8, 1964, Michael married Susan, and together they recently celebrated 61 years of marriage surrounded by the family they built and loved. Michael found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls, cheering on his granddaughters at their sporting events, and spending time at the fair watching them showing cattle, pigs, and horses, as well as helping his granddaughters with their pig projects. He loved farming, going for drives in his Chevy trucks, and had a soft spot for John Deere tractors. He especially loved attending the National Tractor Pulls in Bowling Green, Ohio each year. Music and television were favorite pastimes, especially country music, and when his health allowed, he and Susan enjoyed camping trips. Most of all, Michael treasured time spent with his family and his loyal dog, Abby.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughters, Michelle (Ibber) Banks and Lisa (Brian) Keets; sons, Michael Finnegan and Matthew (Shanna) Finnegan; beloved granddaughters, Callie and Julia Finnegan and Jennifer and Ellie Keets; sister, Mary Rennie (Jerry Burrer); brother, Patrick (Carol) Finnegan; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, James Finnegan.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Florence Cemetery, 11319 SR 113, Florence Township.
