Saddened to hear about Dr. Fischetti's passing. He was my oncologist in 2005-2009. Caring, funny, knowledgeable. All patients agreed that we instantly felt better just by chatting with him. I was in my early 20s then, scared, but he'd always put me at ease, made me feel that there was a light at the end of the tunnel; took interest in my life and was always honest with me. Once I had to wait for a long time for a complex surgery to be scheduled. I called him out of desperation (even though it was not up to him to schedule it), but he got in touch with the right people immediately and I received an appointment less than two hours later. I still have a good luck note that he left for me after the final chemo, still remember that huge sombrero in one of his offices at Kaiser, and the funny newspaper clipping next to the door which insisted that if a doctor is running late to see his patient that he must be an alien. These are the things that I'll always remember about the time that I'd rather forget. It was also obvious how much he cared for his family. At some point, when I had a choice in going with different treatments, he told me: "Kiddo, I know what my wife would have chosen." We went with her choice and we were not wrong. What a bright light he was. I will forever be grateful to him.

I loved working with Dr Fischetti back at the original KP location at Kiely on the 4th floor/Med 2. I was a medical assistant back then in college, and working part time. Dr Fischetti had an eternal well of happiness that poured from his big heart. I will always remember his smile, he encouragement and kindness. I saw him about a month before his passing and he was still smiling big. Small talk about his kids and mine, and about the other retired docs...I will miss him and the fondest memories I have brings peace and joy during this difficult time. Love to the Fischetti Family.

Dr. Michael was the physician all of us wished to be when we entered Medical School. He achieved, and helped those in need, repeatedly, and in many ways, in addition to Medicine.
