Michael Gates Obituary
Mike was born on February 15, 1948, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Keith and JoAnn (Kelley) Gates. He gradated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1966, then went to NIACC Community College Drafting Program and graduated in 1968. On December 19, 1970, Mike was united in marriage to Rebecca Nieman in Des Moines, Iowa. During his life Mike managed Pizza Huts across the United States for over thirty years, retiring in 2009. In his spare time Mike enjoyed playing pool and golf.
Michael's memory is honored by: two daughters, Tammy Benge of Iowa, Melinda (Michael McCombs) Gates of Pensacola, Florida; three sons, LT Timothy (Sarah) Gates of Austin, Texas, Jeremy (Mylinda) Gates of Marion, Illinois and CDR Andrew (Shalini) Gates of Memphis, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Bill) Peterson, Nancy (Jim) Kuker, and Sandy (Dave) Vosberg; two brothers, Jim and Jerry Gates. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, Iowa, from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery, rural Clarksville, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Mike's family for later designation and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock assisting the family, 319-885-4321.
