In Loving Memory of Michael Henry Germaine

April 19, 1936 – July 22, 2025

Michael "Mike" Henry Germaine, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025. He was surrounded by his children and comforted by the familiar sights and sounds of Animal Planet – featuring his favorite: dogs.

Born in Richmond, California to Marie (Limneos) and John Germaine. Mike was the youngest of his siblings John Jr. (Jack) and Dorothy.

He was raised in a large, loving extended Greek family thatsettled in the San Fransico Bay area. Weekend gatherings were filled with storytelling, food, and laughter – moments that shaped the warmth, wit, and deep sense of connection that defined Mike's life.

Mike attended Stanford University, where his creativity and natural leadership flourished. He was always inventing things and coming up with creative ideas to solve problems. He loved politics and storytelling, and although he was famously terrible at telling jokes – often fumbling the punchline- his laughter was contagious.

After college, Mike joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Morocco. His travels inspired a lifelong passion for painting, and he often captured the people and places that moved him in vivid, heartfelt, works of art.

Upon returning home, Mike began working as a Personnel Manager at O'Connor Hospital, in San Jose, CA. I was there that he met the love of his life, Jeannie Shaw, a dedicated nurse. They met through the hospital's bowling league, fell in love, and began a beautiful journey together. Married for 60 wonderful years, they raised two children, Michelle and Gary. Together they built a life filled with love and purpose.

Mike's career took the family to Visalia, California, in 1976,where he continued to work in Human Resources for the next 30 years. After retirement, he and Jeannie settled in the quiet charm of Exeter, CA. True to form, Mike continued to give back – driving the establishment of Exeter's local bark park, inspired by his beloved dog, Black Jack.

When Jeannie passed away, part of Mike's heart went with her. Just over one year later, they are together again. Mike's life was a legacy of imagination, compassion, humor, and deep love. He will be remembered for his kindness, his quirky ideas, his devotion to family.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Haas, his son Gary Germaine and his wife Amanda, his grandchildren, Ty Roberts, Donnie Haas, and Rachel, Grace and Clayton Germaine. His memory lives on through them and the countless lives he touched.

Mike has been our neighbor for several years. It was sad to hear that his wife passed and even more so, that he has passed. Mike was a kind, jovial and generous neighbor. He would bake cookies and bring gifts of lemons from his tree in his backyard. His daughter, Michelle is one of the most beautiful people in the world and I attribute this to the way in which her parents raised her...a genuine Christian. Our condolences to Michelle and the family. Rest in peace Mike with your beautiful wife
