MICHAEL A. GILES

February 14, 1962 - January 15, 2026, Michael A. "Mike" Giles, 63, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Visitation was held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley, immediately followed by graveside services in Oaklawn Cemetery, 720 South Camellia Boulevard in Fort Valley. Rev. Russ Bozeman will officiate.

Born in Fort Valley to the late Story M. Giles Jr. and Betty Smith Giles, Michael started his work career while still in school, working afternoons at his father's mechanic shop, Giles Garage. Later after high school, he worked at Blue Bird Body Company, during which time he obtained his EMT license. He began working at Peach County EMS, where he was employed for over 40 years before retiring November 30, 2022. During Michael's career in public service, he was a Peach County Sheriff's Deputy under Sheriff Johnny Becham, whom he respected and remained close to until this day. He loved serving and helping others, and served as a volunteer fireman.

Michael also enjoyed farming and working on most anything. He loved growing and harvesting hay and spending time with his wife of 41 years, Cindy, and their fur babies, Max and Daisy. He enjoyed cooking and spending time at home on the farm.

Michael was an amazing person, a great friend to have, and a loving husband. Always supporting and helping his wife in pursuing her dreams in medicine and in farming. He was truly one of a kind.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) L. Giles; sisters, Gail Giles of Fort Valley and Susan Giles Phillips (Keith) of Madison, GA; brother, Dennis Giles of Fort Valley; nephew, Ryan Giles Phillips of New York; and his mother in law, Irma L. Jones.

In lieu of flowers, family respectfully requests donations in honor of Michael be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Rooks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
