MICHAEL F. "MIKE" GILL

GILL, Michael "Mike" F. Retired Boston Police officer of Roslindale, passed away unexpectedly, at his home, on August 30, 2025. He was 55 years of age. Mike was born in Boston, the son of the late Boston Police Sgt. Francis M. Gill and Cecilia (Constantine) Gill. A lifelong resident of Roslindale, Mike graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and later entered the military. A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, Mike served his country in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, during the Gulf War. After an honorable discharge from active duty, Mike briefly worked as a prison guard before taking oath as a Boston Police officer in 1999. Mike patrolled many Boston communities while under assignment to several different police districts in his 24 years of service. Prior to his retirement in 2023, Mike's final assignment was with the Evidence Control Unit. Mike is survived by his sister, Elizabeth and her partner, Richard Haywood, of California. He leaves behind several cousins and their spouses, Patrick and Vicki, Robert and Robin, Michael and Christine, Mary, and Kellee and Ryan; along with special family friends, The Mannings; as well as many fellow officer friends and USMC brothers. Visiting Hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY, on Thursday, September 11, from 3pm to 7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, September 12, at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, at 10am. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
