Michael S. Gilstrap, 73, of Footville, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Rock Haven Nursing Home. Mike was born on November 12, 1951 in Norfolk, NE to the late John and Marian (Ward) Gilstrap. He grew up with 1 brother and 4 sisters. He was a 1970 graduate of Milton High School. On May 26, 1973 in Milton, WI, Mike married Evon Fry. He was a jack of all trades and worked jobs as a meat cutter, along with masonry, and drywall on many local construction jobs. He also worked for the Janesville Parks Division, and John Deere Tractors. When he was a young boy, Mike loved racing soap box derby cars and even received a congratulations letter from President John F. Kennedy on his victory. He loved to play pool, chess, bowling, and backgammon. In his spare time, he also loved to tinker on old muscle cars. He supported all his children in whatever adventures or activities they were involved in. Michael is survived by his loving wife: Evon Gilstrap of Footville, WI; children: Felisha (Joe) Wetenkamp of Janesville, WI, Kyle (LeeAnn) Gilstrap of Pittsburgh, PA; son-in-law: Shane Legler of Edgerton, WI; grandchildren: Chad, Noah, Andilyn, Jaxton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Clinton and Evelyn Fry; daughter: Tonya Legler; son: Michael Gilstrap; and brother: Daniel Gilstrap. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1PM to 3PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Albrecht Funeral Homes, Edgerton.
