Michael Godes

With a heart full of love and respect, we say goodbye to Michael Craig Godes, known affectionately as "Lippy" or "Mike" to his loved ones, who departed this life on November 20, 2025. Born in St. Paul, MN, on October 30, 1944, Michael lived a full and vibrant life. His journey took him from Mendota Heights, MN, to California, France, and Germany before he settled in East Bethel, Minnesota. Michael was a man of many talents, but it was his warm heart, endless love for his family, and genuine care for others that truly defined him. As we celebrate his life, we remember a verse from the Jewish scriptures, Proverbs 17:6, "Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children."

Michael devoted much of his life to helping others. He served his country as a S4 and radio operator in the Army for three years, but his true calling was in psychiatric nursing. for 43 years, he worked primarily at Ramsey/Region's Hospital, where he made a difference in countless lives with his compassionate care and empathetic approach. In his leisure time, Michael enjoyed fishing, watching game shows and NCIS, and was a proud member of the Card Club with "the guys". He was also known to have a fondness for a good cigar, often enjoyed in the company of his beloved family and friends.

Michael leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his wife, Penny Krogmann; his children, Elyse and Todd Godes; his grandchildren, Molly, Caleb, Owen, Georgiana, and Flynn; his sister, Randee Lyons; and his brother, John Godes. Michael also leaves behind a host of cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gertrude Godes, and his brother, Thomas Godes. In his memory, let us recall Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."
