Michael J. Graham, 69, of Bowie, MD passed away on December 15, 2023 at George Washington University Hospital. He was surrounded by his family. Michael was born on October 17, 1954, in Bethesda, Maryland. Michael was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Michael was known for his easy-going nature. He was patient, kind, quiet, and always had a positive outlook on life. He would never turn down any request for help. Mike dedicated himself to his family above all else and was a loving husband to his wife of 42 years, Sheila. He and Sheila met at Loyola in 1974 and had been together ever since. Michael was also a devoted and proud father to his son Ryan Graham and his partner Jung Taylor. Mike adored his grandchildren, his partner-in-crime Elizabeth (Lizzie), and newborn Catherine.
In addition to his immediate family, Mike is survived by his mother, Hilda Mary Graham, and his siblings: Susan Graham Morris (John), Timothy Graham (Debbie), Ellen Graham, Bob Graham (Beth), Patrick Graham (Mary Kay), Brian Graham (Molly), and Paul Graham (Susan). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Julie Kirsh, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Francis Graham.
Michael received his education at Georgetown Preparatory School in Rockville, MD. He went on to attend Loyola University and the University of MD School of Law in Baltimore, MD. Mike pursued a successful career as an Attorney in General Practice and became a partner at Fisher and Walcek in Marlow Heights, MD. More recently he practiced Real Estate Law and worked in title examination.
A lifelong Catholic, Mike found solace and strength in his faith. He prayed the Rosary daily. He was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist while a member of Ascension Catholic Church in Bowie. More recently he was a member of St. Pius X Church in Bowie where he attended weekly Mass
Outside of his professional life, Mike had a passion for spending time with his family. His son Ryan meant everything to him and he supported Ryan any way he could. He served as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 403 in Bowie, MD, and enjoyed mentoring and guiding young scouts. Mike could also be found in Sheila's classroom every August helping her put up bulletin boards. He was a dedicated teacher spouse!
A wake to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Church in Bowie, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Pius X Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, organizations that were close to Mike's heart.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all those who have prayed for Michael during his recent illness and to Beall Funeral Home for their assistance during this difficult time.
