Dr. Michael Raymond Green

Michael Raymond Green, M.D., 75, of Flint, TX died peacefully in his sleep at home with his beloved Abear at his side on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024. A native of Houston, he was born the 7th of nine children to Mary Lou Hebert Green and Thomas F. Green on January 19, 1949. Mike graduated from St. Thomas High School, Houston; Texas A&M University (whoop!); University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio; and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics residency and fellowship programs. As a pediatric pulmonologist in Tyler, he established a satellite cystic fibrosis center at the University of Texas Health Center, Tyler as well as an annual summer camp for asthmatic children at Camp Tyler. Through the years Mike lovingly cared for countless East Texas children with asthma and cystic fibrosis.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Thomas F. Green III, Joseph Martin Green, Patrick Anthony Green and sisters: Mary Lou Hall and Marjo Sauer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Terri; sons: William Green and wife Dani; Mark Green; daughter Morgan Green and husband, Thomas Davis; sisters: Helen Young and husband Ed, Frances Hall and husband Greg; brother: J. Stephen Green and wife Jacki; and beloved grandchildren: Benjamin and Chapman Green; Kathleen, Tom Henry, Patrick and Bridget Davis.
Our sweet husband, father, brother, and "Pa" will be greatly missed. What a happy man who never met a stranger: "Hello there, where are you from? Do you know what your name means?" and we would sigh and know that this would be an extended conversation; an early riser who was always chipper and ready to chat; a grease monkey want-to-be mechanic who frequently ruined good clothes; a frugal, clutter, pack-rat junk devotee; an intellectual and deep thinker; a Eucharistic minister who was devoted to Our Lady and the Holy Rosary; a husband who never nagged about anything; a dad who always encouraged and supported and was never harsh and greeted all conflict and disappointment with calm, patience and compassion; an arborist who planted and nurtured hundreds of trees; a devoted physician who was loved by his patients, parents, and students; a "Pa" who wanted to live longer for his grandchildren and worked hard losing weight so that his tired heart would not have to work so hard; and a believer who fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Flint TX with the Very Rev. James Rowland officiating; reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler TX.
