Michael Guyton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holland Funeral Directors - Tupelo Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
Tupelo-Michael Hardin Guyton, 78, departed this life for his life in eternity from his longtime Tupelo residence after a period of declining health. Mike was born in Jackson, MS. on August 20, 1947, and was adopted soon after birth by Joe Hardin Guyton and Grace Daniel Guyton, their only child. He grew up in a nurturing, loving Christian home in the pristine environment of Blue Mountain, MS. where he had many friends and was loved by all. He graduated from Blue Mountain High School and earned a BA Degree from the University of Mississippi. He became a lifelong ardent and devoted Ole Miss Rebel and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mike had a steely mind and an adventurous spirit. In 1969, he founded, owned and eventually expanded his company, Mike Guyton Realtors, to become a major real estate developer. Mike was the originator and home construction builder of Yates Acres Subdivision as well as Audubon Subdivision. Later in life, he became a licensed real estate appraiser which he did until his health began to fail a few years ago. Mike was the husband of Kay Beane Guyton. They married on Aug. 30, 1970, a marriage of 55 years. To this union was born two daughters, Jennifer and Amanda. The real joy of Mike's life was being Pop Pop to his 5 grandchildren, Walker, Kathryn Ruth, Mary Grace, Cooper and Carter. He seldom missed any of their extracurricular activities especially watching his grandsons play baseball and equally watching his granddaughters in dance and theatre productions. A beach lover, he enjoyed nothing more than taking the family to the beach. A longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, he loved teaching the High School boy's Sunday school class. He was an active and engaged member of the Saltillo Baseball Boosters. All said, the joy of his life was his family, and he devoted much time to them over his life. Visitation will be from 1 PM-3 PM Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. The family will have private time to remember their husband, dad and Pop Pop and request you respect this special time for them. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Kay Guyton of Tupelo; his daughter, Jennifer Guyton Parsons and husband, Frank of Montgomery, Ala and Amanda Guyton Childs and husband, Heath of Saltillo; Pop Pop's grands, Walker Parsons, Kathryn Ruth Parsons, Mary Grace Parsons, Cooper Childs and Carter "Jerry" Childs; his Beane family in laws, Beth, Jim and Randy Beane and their wives and extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Grace Guyton and his father and mother-in-law, Gus and Wanda Beane. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory be made to Saltillo Baseball Booster Club, 115 Homestead Lane, Saltillo, MS. 38866. Expressions of sympathy may be posted to Mike's memorial page at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/obits. (662 840 5000)

Earlier today

Kay, Jennifer and Amanda, thinking of you and praying for you to rejoice that Mike is no longer suffering but instead has gone home to receive his new body. What sweet memories I have of our girls and Mikes kindness.
Much love, Sandra
