Michael Joseph Hall, 57, of Terre Haute passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 20, 2026. Michael was born on September 19, 1968, in Anderson, Indiana to Lanny and Geneva (Burden) Hall Stewart.

Mike graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Performance, with emphasis on Recreation and Sports Management, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He joined the United States Navy, where he began as a radioman. He retired from the Navy as a Chief and a Rescue Swimmer, as well as a Corpsman for the Marines in Afghanistan. He was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Bagram Airfield, Southwest Asia, Camp Victory, Kuwait and Cordova, Alaska. He taught rescue swimmers in Pensacola, Florida. Between deployments, he taught grade school and high school in Indianapolis. Mike traveled the world.

He was an officer (Sgt at Arms) at the American Legion Post 104, as well as a member of the Honor Guard. Mike was also a member of the Marine Corps League. He loved history and loved traveling to historical places. Mike will be remembered for his strong work ethic, independence, and the loyal heart he carried throughout his life. Though he lived simply, he left a lasting impression on those who truly knew him.

Michael is survived by his father Lanny (Glenda), his mother Geneva, fiancée Mitzi Nichols, sister Toni Donna (Paul), nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special friends; Retired Commanding Office Paul Mitchell (Florida), Angelo Stango (Virginia) and Eric Johnson (Vincennes).

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his stepfather Bob and his brother Jerry Hall.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the American Legion Post 104 located at 2609 Fort Harrison Rd Terre Haute, IN 47804.

Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at samaritanfunerals.com
