Obituary
The parties will never be the same and there will never be barbecue sauce made the way Michael Handra made it because on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 64, Mike passed away leaving those that loved him most numb from the shock of losing him. Life will never be the same however, all that knew him were blessed that he was a part of their life.
Michael's life started in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 14, 1959, when he was born to George and Emma (nee Volk) Handra. He was the baby of the family but took on a huge role of keeping everyone together. He graduated from Western Hills High School class of 1978. He met the love of his life Pamela Scheyer, and they were married on July 21, 1979. Michael and Pamela were blessed with two daughters: Sara and Anna. When he wasn't throwing back yard parties or helping others with their parties, he worked full time as an electrical salesman for FD Lawrence Electric. He was just getting ready to retire after 39 years of service. Mike being the "Senior" guy was the guy to go to when you needed anything whether at work or with friends. Family time was what he lived for... well that and the Bengals. Mixing them together and taking family to the Bengals games to enjoy his season tickets always put a smile on his face. However, if you asked anyone that knew him, he was known for his backyard parties, where he gathered friends, family and neighbors around the pool and he would be at the grill cooking up something fabulous with his very own Mike's barbecue sauce. He was also known for his Chocolate Mousse. Even though Mike passed way too soon, he leaves a trail of memories for everyone to share and to remember that this world was blessed to have him in it.
Those left that will keep trying to recreate the sauce recipe will be his loving and dear wife: Pamela (Scheyer) Handra; daughters: Sara (Joe) Pope and Anna Handra; cherished grandson: Lincoln Pope; siblings: Greg Handra and Carol Devine; Brother-in-law: Skip Scheyer; sisters-in-law: Pauline Linne, Patti (Bernie) Nusekabel, Annette (Jim) Nose and April Miller. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030 on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist - Harrison, on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 10 am. Private burial will follow at St. Joseph Old Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the Sam Hubbard Foundation. A funeral home representative will be available during the visitation and services to accept memorials on behalf of the family.
