Michael James Harris

Michael J. "Mushroom" Harris, 55, of Keyser, WV, died on Friday, January 2, 2026 at WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser,
Born on December 18, 1970 in Keyser, WV, he was a son of Joyce D. (Shoemaker) Norvell and husband Don of Elizabeth City, NC and the late James E. Harris. He also was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Mary Shoemaker and Joe and Beatrice Harris; a nephew, Timothy Michael Harris; two aunts and six uncles.
Mr. Harris was formerly employed as an ironworker and welder with Waco at the Mount Storm Power Plant.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and stepfather is his wife, Tina Marie (Johnson) Harris; his children, Jessie Harris of Keyser, Dustin Harris of Cumberland, MD, Michael Harris, Jr. of New York, Mikenna Harris of Piedmont, WV and Zoey Harris and Summer Harris, both of Keyser; two step children, Carisa Beeman of Tip City, OH and Shawn Cox of Morgantown, WV; 10 grandchildren and one step grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Tammy Harris of Accident, MD, Robin Crowder of Elizabeth City and Sherry Smith of Keyser; three aunts, Earlene Parks of Keyser, Helen Bell of Romney, WV and Linda Shoemaker of Front Royal, VA and two uncles, Earl Shoemaker of Burlington, WV and Ted Harris of Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Goldizen officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Smith Funeral Home, 85 S. Main Street Keyser, WV 26726 to assist in defraying funeral expenses.
