Michael Hartman, of the Carrollton community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 1, 1946, in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, Michael lived a life dedicated to family, work, and service.
A proud veteran, Michael served his country in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. His commitment to service continued throughout his professional life, where he made significant contributions as an electrician. He had worked at Steinhardt & Hanson in Madison, IN, and later worked for M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton, KY. Michael ultimately retired from Kentucky Utilities Ghent Generating Station, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Michael grew up in the former Ghent Christian Church and being a member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 F & AM. He had a passion for local college basketball teams and cherished his time spent with John Deere Tractors, hobbies that brought him joy and connected him to his neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Sue Meadows Hartman of Carrollton, KY; two sons, Matthew (Valerie) Hartman and Mark Anthony Hartman, both of Carrollton, KY; as well as his sisters, Sandra Layton of Milton, KY, Mary (Dwight) Louden of Carrollton, KY, Linda Hartman of Carrollton, KY, Bobbi Jo (Bob) McClane of Alexandria, KY, and Debbie Harsin of Milton, KY. He also leaves behind his brother, Barry (Brenda) Hartman of Alexandria, KY, and four grandchildren: Chase (Nicole) Hartman, Conner Hartman, Alyssa, and Madison (Micah) Hartman. Michael was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Quentin Beck Hartman and London Kate Hartman, along with several nieces and nephews who will carry forth his memory.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Herchel and Frances Stamler Hartman; a brother, William Hartman, Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Hootie Layton and Dennis Harsin.
Visitation for Michael Hartman will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at English Christian Church, located at 2076 KY-227, Carrollton, KY 41008. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location, commencing at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Carrollton. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Team and the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton at the graveside.
Michael Hartman will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of his family and friends.
