Michael William Hawkins, of Gainesville GA, was called home on the 3rd of April, 2024. He was 76 years old. The words that are to follow cannot convey what an extraordinary person he was.
Saved by his Grandmother, Hassie, Michael overcame his meager beginnings to become a successful businessman in the industry of pipe fittings and flanges. Starting several businesses and seeing them come to fruition, Michael traveled the world and became a leader in his industry. Michael retired and turned his attention to what would become his life's passion. A devout Christian, he lived to explore the teachings of Jesus and helped bring others to the Word. Michael taught Sunday school at Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Men's Bible Study at First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
Michael found peace and love with his wife, Gaye, who survives him. He is also survived by two adult children, Matthew and Willam. Those who knew him and loved him will have to find a way to exist in a world where he no longer does.

I found in Bro. Mike a kindred soul. He loved nothing better than sit down with a fellow brother in Christ and have a deep conversation about the most serious topics in life and in particular the Word of God. More often than not we would agree completely upon most subjects. Sometimes we would take different viewpoints but even then I still took something of value away to contemplate and consider. There was one last subject I really wanted to discuss with him and was waiting for his return back to our church. That conversation will have to wait until I pass over and meet him. Our prayers are with Gaye and the family. Scott (MVBC)
