Michael (Mike) Douglas Haynes, 71, of Woodway Va, went to be with the lord April
11th 2023
Mike was born March 24th 1952 to James & Alice (Pauline) Haynes. Mike went to
Pennington High school where he played football & basketball, where he became one of
the top players in basketball for his graduation year.
Mike was a hard worker at a young age, he started working beside his dad at the
Pepsi company loading and driving trucks. In 1989 he was hired with the Town of
Pennington Gap along with doing many side jobs for 35 plus years.
He is survived by wife Abbie Haynes (Smith), daughter Ashlie Haynes, son in law Paul
(Pj) Sawyers, grandson Mars Sawyers of the home, sisters Marsha Matthews, Janet
Morgan, brother Samuel (Sam) Haynes, brother in law Mike Morgan all of White pine
TN, two sisters in law Jacqueline (Jackie) Haynes of Pennington Gap & Jane Haynes of
Jonesville also many nieces & nephews.
Mike is predeceased by Parents James & Alice (Pauline) Haynes of Pennington Gap,
Brothers John Haynes of Pennington Gap, James (Jr) Haynes of Jonesville, uncle Oscar
Cress of Dayton Ohio, nephew Ashley Anderson of White Pine TN.
Entombment will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Roy Webb and Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Tuesday for the service.
