With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Michael Keith Helton, 64, of
Murfreesboro on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was born on October 23, 1958 in Franklin, TN to Muriel
Ruth and Alvie Lee Helton. Mike was the youngest of four children, so he had a very adventurous
childhood.
Mike graduated from MTSU, where he received his Bachelor of Science. He worked at Samuel Strapping
for 28 years, before working with Powder X and then eventually successfully starting his own company.
He married Karen M. Drott, the love of his life, at Arvada Church of God on December 15, 1984 in
Arvada, CO. They were married for 39 years. Together, they raised two amazing children, living for 18
years in Smyrna, TN before moving to Murfreesboro, where Karen still lives.
Mike loved playing golf, tending to his garden and playing/spending time with his grandchildren. He
took great pride in taking care of his home and yard and enjoyed spending time with family outside. He
loved his country and was proud to be an American. He always lived his life unapologetically himself.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, and his children Megan Tisdale and her husband Jon, and Jared Helton,
and his grandchildren Addison and Oliver, and his siblings, Wayne Helton and wife Ricki, Sharon Helton
and Stephen Helton and wife Kathy, also by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his
beloved dogs, Sadie and Sofie, and his grand-dog, Roxy Top. He is predeceased by his father, Alvie Lee
Helton and mother, Muriel Ruth Helton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 19 at Church of God (behind World
Outreach Church) at 2011 St. James Street in Murfreesboro, TN
