Michael W. Hiles, 73, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne following a brief illness.
Michael was born January 16, 1953, in Marion, Indiana, to the late George W. and Ruth Ann (Smithson) Hiles. He married Kay Ann Monroe on February 4, 1987, and she survives. He was a graduate of Mississinewa High School, Class of 1971, and proudly served as a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mike was an Ironwork and work through Ironworks Local 147.
Mike enjoyed nearly any outdoor activity, including hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, camping, and dirt track racing. He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and collector, most notably restoring a 1937 Harley-Davidson that his father had given him-originally disassembled in boxes-which he and his sons lovingly rebuilt to pristine condition. Mike enjoyed interacting with people and truly lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; sons Micah (April) Hiles and Joshua (Stephanie) Hiles; grandchildren Trevor Hiles, Courtney Hiles, Alexis Weimer, Ryan Weimer, Harley Hiles, Allyson (Brody) Brodkorb, Averie Hiles, Kayla Baskett, and Kirstin Baskett; siblings Jon (Justine) Hiles and sister Cheryl (husband Stephen) Bilbee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jeremy Baskett; granddaughter Brianna Ashmore; and brother James Hiles, sister; Teresa (husband Larry) Powell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Family and friends may gather from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with Pastor John Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
Memorial contributions may be made to Back Creek Friends Church.
