Michael Hill Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
Michael (Mike) Hill passed away at home in September 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Mike was a devoted and loving husband and proud father, and he was beyond thrilled and proud when he learned he would be a grandfather.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn Hill and his sister Pamela Hill. He is survived by his wife Kelly, his children Samantha Schwarz (Tristen), and Shane Hill, his brother, Richard Hill (Diana), and many nieces and nephews.
Mike's strong faith in Christ guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Lincoln Technical College in 1988, earning the honor as the most exceptional student of his graduating class. He then built a career as an ASE Certified Master Diesel Mechanic. Mike enjoyed life and shared that joy with everyone he met with infectious enthusiasm. He loved spending time with his family and friends barbequing, working on projects, or just hanging out in his garage. He loved listening to music and had a playlist for every day of the week. He enjoyed every genre from classic rock to blues to opera and classical. Sara Brightman, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Guy, and George Thorogood were some of his favorite artists.
He loved spending time training and playing with his German Shepherd, Freyja. They would spend hours out on the local hiking trails. Warren Dunes was their favorite hiking spot. They would spend hours out on those trails, up and down the dunes, often losing track of time.
Mike will always be loved and deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Interpretive Shelter at Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer, MI on Friday, September 26th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Eastern time.
