Michael “Mike” James Hodge, aged 82, formerly of Flint, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in Durand, Michigan.
Mike was born on July 17, 1943, in Goodrich to O.Z. and Lola (Downs) Hodge.
Mike was a country boy, growing up in a farming family, and loved nothing more than driving down a country dirt road, listening to his music. Dinner always included lots of milk and mashed potatoes. He could tell epic stories for hours to anyone who would listen, always ending with his signature, animated laugh and beaming smile.
He was passionate about everything he cared for and fiercely protected the people he loved. Mike was a lot of things, but at his core, he was a family man who loved his entire family with all his heart. He adored his eight grandchildren and always let them know, “Grandpa loves ‘em,” at the end of every precious visit.
Surviving are his sister, Florence Hauer of Ortonville; four daughters, Kimberly Hodge of Lapeer, Rhonda (Ronnie) Summers of Grand Blanc, Robin Casady of Saginaw, and April Hirst of Morrice; eight grandchildren, Krystle, Denysha, Marissa, Mike, Brianna, Ronnie, Anthony and Maria, and six great grandchildren, Ciala, Kaylee, Ayden, Daliah, Zinnia and Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
A ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery chapel, 2020 E Hill Rd, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Durand Senior Care for their loving care. Our family has lost the greatest man this side of the Mississippi, who will be forever loved.
