Michael P. "Mike" Holmes

Michael P. Holmes, 78, died Saturday at Above and Beyond Assisted Living facility in Allentown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Candace Alma Davies in 1997.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Willard and Agnes Crane Holmes. He was formerly a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, now St. John Neumann Parish.

He was an electrician for 44 years, employed by Local 81 IBEW, Scranton. Mike enjoyed the Delaware shore, boating, fishing and bingo.

He is survived by four daughters, Mari Doyle and husband, Ken (Centreville, Va.), Meg Solt and husband, Edward (Barto, Pa.), Mary Beth Lunney and husband, Tom (Scranton) and Erin Przywara (Poconos); two sisters, Sister Sally Holmes, I.H.M. (Scranton) and Mary Grace McHale (Scranton); a brother, Crane Holmes (Scranton); six grandchildren, one great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Holmes and Walter Holmes; and former wife, Joan Egan Holmes.

The funeral will be Friday with a viewing at 9 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Jermyn.
