Michael G. Holthaus was born Friday, November 8, 1940 in Oconee, Illinois the son of Bernard Christian and Margaret (maiden name Ibison) Holthaus. He was raised in Oconee attending Sacred Heart Grade School and later Pana High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1958. Michael G. Holthaus married Betty Ann Litz on Saturday, September 4, 1965 in Oconee Sacred Heart Church. He was a lifelong carpenter from a family of very talented carpenters and owned Michael G. Holthaus General Construction. Michael was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana and Oconee Sacred Heart Church, and he was active in both churches and the community.
Michael G. Holthaus is survived by his Wife: Betty Ann Holthaus of Pana; Sons: Eric Gregory Holthaus (Janelle) of Pana and Todd Michael Holthaus (Rose) of New Lenox, Illinois; Daughter: Michelle Dawn Blackwell (Troy) of Pana; Grandsons: Lucas Holthaus, Samuel Holthaus, Jared Blackwell (fiancée Kayla Williams) of Urbana, and Michael Blackwell of Pana; Granddaughters: Allison Ferrari (Joe) of Plainfield, Illinois, Alivia Reed, Issabell Reed, and Emily Blackwell; Step-Grandson: Killian Noonan (Marley) of Lockport, Illinois; Great-Grandson: Kade Joseph Ferrari of Plainfield, Illinois and Step-Great-Granddaughter: Elena Noonan of Lockport, Illinois; Sisters: Connie Elam, Barbara Villalobos, and Marie McCarthy. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers: Norbert and Gregory Holthaus; Sisters: Delores Collins, Denise Collins, Genevieve Cullens, and Joan Schaeffler; and Granddaughter: Ava Marie Holthaus, who died February 16, 2015.
