White Hall - Michael Alan Hoots, 66 of White Hall passed away Tuesday October 11, 2022 in White Hall. He was born August 12, 1956 in Granite City the son of the late Jimmy K. and Betty Evans Hoots. Michael was a 1975 graduate of Carrollton High School. He served his country in the US Navy, aboard the USS Chowanoc as a fireman stationed in San Diego. He was a mechanic and skilled carpenter working several years in the family business Hoots and Hoots Contractors. He liked classic cars, fishing, and was a consummate Beatles fan. He loved his family and the simple things in life. Surviving are his children, Christy Hoots, Shelly Hoots and Michael T. Hoots of White Hall, Jeffrey (Jenny) Hoots of Greenfield and Jennifer Maurer of Springfield. He was a devoted "papa" to 8 grandchildren, Alyssa, Kenzi, Kyleigh, Chloe, Dawson, Jason, Keegan and Silas. Also surviving are his brothers Danny (Barbara) Hoots of Coats, NC, Kenny (Debra) Hoots of White Hall, and Steven Hoots of Lees Summit, MO. Preceding him in death were his parents, and an uncle Sonny Hoots and aunt Joyce Six.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 Monday October 17, 2022 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9 am until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be in Camp Buter National Cemetery in Springfield at 2 pm Monday. Memorials can be made to the White Hall Fire Department.
