Mr. Michael "Mike" Howze, 58, of Adel, passed away Sunday March 25, 2012, at his residence. He was born December 29, 1953 in Adel to Roy Nelson Howze (late) and Laqueta Shiflett Howze. Mr. Howze was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Adel. He lived most of his life in Cook and Lowndes Counties and was employed by Howze and Sons. Mr. Howze was also a former teacher at Lowndes, Valdosta and Lanier County High Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Howze is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Christin and Josh Eisenhower of Adel, and Natasha Howze of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Katelynne Nitschke of Statenville, Michael Bowen of Valdosta, and Emily and Audrey Eisenhower, both of Adel; his mother, Laqueta Shiflett Howze of Adel; two brothers, Phil Howze of Valdosta and Keith Howze of Hahira; a sister, Kathy Lewis of Barney; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Monzelle Shiflett; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special friend, "Little Un." He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Nelson Howze; a grandson, Hayden Eisenhower; maternal grandfather, Cliff "Papa" Shiflett; and paternal grandparents, Grover and Thelma Howze. Funeral services for Mr. Howze were conducted Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11 am in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Studstill officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex in Adel. The family received friends Wednesday morning one hour prior to the service at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. (U.S. Hwy. 41 South) in Adel. Pallbearers for Mr. Howze's service were Jeremy Howze, Josh Eisenhower, Ty Howze, Steven Abbott, Tony Garcia, Will Howze and Jeffrey Law.. Special selections played during the funeral service were "One Day At a Time," "I Saw the Light," and "Over You."
