Michael J. Imparato, Jr., aged 73, passed away surrounded by his family on February 26th, in
Mendon, MA, after his courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born in Jamaica Plain, MA, on December 6, 1950, to the late Michael J. and Florence (Poirier) Imparato.
Michael grew up in Natick, where he graduated in 1968. He then went into the trades where he became an electrician, joining both the electrical and carpenter unions. Years later his love for cooking led him to Johnson & Wales, where he perfected his skills in the kitchen. Mouths would water for days in anticipation of his sausage-bread and homemade Italian dishes.
He recently retired from Stanley Access where he installed automatic doors throughout New England. Anyone who has spent time in the car with him will know how he would joyfully point out every door he had installed over the past 25 years. After retirement, he dove into his love for woodworking and helping his children and friends with their various household projects.
He was known as "Mr. Fix It," Michael could tackle any challenge, whether it was a complex carpentry project or a simple household repair. His love for carpentry was only matched by his passion for his many trips to Home Depot, which were as much a hobby as they were a chore. Those who knew him will fondly recall his dry, quick wit and his knack for telling a great story.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Meninno) Imparato. Together, they built a family that includes their loving children: Micah Imparato and his wife Stacy of North Attleboro, Amanda Imparato and her significant other Lucas Hammar of Westminster, Zachary Imparato of Mendon, Corey Imparato of Boston, and Alyssa Imparato of Mendon. He was also a grandfather to Morgan and Gavin Imparato. He is also survived by his siblings, Stephen Imparato and his wife Susan of New Zealand, Alan Imparato and his wife Susan of Attleboro, Joseph Imparato and his wife Elizabeth of Brewster, Donna Lightbody and her husband Tim of Arizona, and John Imparato and his wife Lori of Bellingham, and an abundant amount of nieces and nephews.
Everyone will remember him as the person who could always be relied upon for support, a story, or a clever joke at just the right moment. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 29 from 4-7 PM at Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
Funeral services will be from the funeral home at 9:00 AM with procession leaving at 9:45AM for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 E. Main Street,
