Michael Jacobs

It pleased Almighty God to call Michael Jacobs, age 77, of Rolla, Missouri from this mortal life on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. He was born on August 13, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri to Walter and Margaret (Lang) Jacobs.
Michael was made a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on April 30, 1954, and was confirmed in the Christian faith in 1962. Michael held fast to the Word and Sacraments of the Lord Jesus. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church, especially Trinity Lutheran in Columbia and he gladly received the Word of
God as often he could, and eagerly shared the reason for the hope that was in him with as many as he could.
Throughout the years, Michael was an avid painter, a true artist whose talent was evident in his many beautiful works. His creativity extended beyond the canvas, as he also nurtured a passion for gardening, delighting in cultivating vibrant flowers. Michael's love for nature was further expressed in his bird-watching pursuits, where he found peace and joy observing the feathered visitors to his garden. Additionally, he had a unique enthusiasm for collecting and wearing all manner of hats. He held a deep passion for Missouri history. These passions illustrated his appreciation for beauty, both in nature and craftsmanship, and his ability to find wonder in life's simple pleasures.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine; his daughter, Michelle Bogart; his stepdaughter, Cassandra Toilolo; his brother, Gary Jacobs; and his two sisters, Sheryl Davis and Patricia Roney. The love and support of his family were a great source of joy and comfort to him throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Margaret (Lang) Jacobs.
A Christian funeral will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025, at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia, Missouri with Rev. Brian Thieme and Rev. Joseph McCalley officiating.
Michael will be laid to rest following the worship service to await the day of Resurrection at Boonville Memorial Gardens Cemetery Cherry Street, Boonville, Missouri.
