Michael Jenkins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory - Radford on Mar. 30, 2026.
Michael Zane Jenkins, 74, of Dublin, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, after courageously battling health issues.

He was born and raised in Pulaski, in the close knit community of Mt. Olivet, where he developed a strong sense of hard work, love of family, and the love of nature that would guide him throughout his life.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Christine Cole Jenkins; and a loving father to his daughters,

Dusty Jenkins Spence and Amber Jenkins Hollins (Roger), and stepchildren, Jennifer Dickerson (Johnny), Mary Swartzer (Scott), and John W. Lancaster II. He was most proud of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

He was preceded in death and is now rejoicing, free of pain, with his parents, Otha Ray and Beatrice Martin Jenkins; his sister and her husband, Peggy and Kenneth Jones; his brother Wayne Jenkins; and his nephew, Gary Jones.

Mike was never afraid of hard work. He worked the majority of his life for Pulaski County Administration as Assistant County Administrator, the Town of Pulaski as Public Works Director, the later in Management at Community Housing Partners. He was known for his dedication, humor, and made a lasting impact on those he worked with and served. He was very active in numerous community and civic organizations over the years, and served his hometown proudly.

Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building well-loved items for his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandkids grow and be successful in their fields of study, watching them play numerous sports, and storytelling. He found joy in spending time at home with his wife and his church family. He found peace in nature and spent quality time with loved ones. His presence brought warmth and laughter to family gatherings and friendships alike.

He will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, steady guidance, and for the love he gave so freely to those around him.

The family will receive guests from 12 until 1 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brent Strouf officiating. Interment will follow in Hufford Cemetery in Pulaski.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to Gethsemane Baptist Church, 2008 Preston St., Radford, Virginia 24141.

"My flesh may fail and heart grow faint but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (Psalms 73:26)
