Uncle Mike is my first memory of what an "Uncle" should be. I was lucky to be able to see him often when we lived in Virginia while I was growing up. Whether it was blowing off fireworks or eating the spider that came down from the ceiling while we sat around the table one night, I was in awe of him and I loved him not just because he was the "fun uncle" but because he always made you feel important. He made it feel like it was just the two of you enjoying a moment even if there were a hundred other people in the room. He was deeply thoughtful and he listened. Throughout my life he kept listening and he gave the most heartfelt and considerate advice. He could be hilarious and fun and at the same time, caring and so warm.
I have so many memories throughout my life of times spent with him, from when I was little and then later with my own kids who adored him as much as I did. The memories are so clear because he connected so deeply with you when you were together. Whether it was the time I was around 7 years old and he made hotdogs in the toaster oven and we went for a ride on his motorcycle to staying up late on the back porch in Myrtle Beach drinking Miller Lites and sharing funny police stories, I LOVED every minute spent with him. Will miss you profoundly Uncle Mike.
Aunt Loretta and Christine, thinking and praying for you both every day.
Love, Patrick
