How do I begin to tell the story of how good a friend Mike´s been? We met in the old days when the U of M had two bus departments. Small Buses that belonged to the hospital and Big Buses that served the University. That´s when I first met Mike. Both departments were merged, and Mike needed a Big Bus license. Yes, I gave him his Commercial Driver´s License test, and we were friends ever since.
Mike was the most loyal friend I´ve ever had. When I couldn´t do the lawn and garden work before my knee and hip operations, Mike was there. When Covid hit, Mike was there to help me get what I needed, even for our Covid dinners with friends. When I got Covid, Mike was there at his own risk with food and medicine. When I had my bathroom and windows renovated, Mike was there to help get everything ready for the workmen and put it all back together. With my partner living so far away, I never would have made it without him. He found me everything from a housekeeper to a mason.
I think of all the meals we had together, and the friendship we shared and enjoyed. Mike never knew a stranger. I will really miss you, Mike.
