Thomas Michael Kercheval, known to many as Mike, Michael, Mikey, Big Michael to name a few, passed away at home on June 30, 2024, hours shy of turning 77. Born on July 1, 1947, to Leonard and Minnie Kercheval, Mike was the youngest of seven and spent his formative years in Omaha, Nebraska.
A veteran, Mike served his country with honor in Vietnam. In 1970, he embraced fatherhood with the birth of his first child Tynia, followed by another blessing, his son Michael in 1978. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own construction company in the early 80s.
In 1984, Mike met the love of his life, Gea, and with her came two bonus children JaCee and Venessa, creating a beautifully blended family of six. Mike cherished his role as a family man, always ensuring his "ducklings" were close by.
Mike had a zest for life and a passion for spending time outdoors, especially fishing. He loved hosting family gatherings where you were drawn in by his infectious laugh. He was renowned for his grilling skills, particularly his unbeatable ribs. His pets were also a source of great joy and companionship.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gea; his children, Tynia (Reggie), Michael (Carlie), JaCee (Jase), and Venessa (Wesley); his grandchildren, Nathan, Kayla, Hannah, Malachi, Solomon, Deborah, Isaiah, Tyjion, and Jayla; and his great-granddaughter, Stella. He is also survived by his sister Sheba Ann and countless nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Minnie, and his siblings, Marilyn, Rosemary, Minnie, Gunga, and Stevie.
Mike's legacy is one of love, laughter, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
