MICHAEL KICKHAM Obituary

KICKHAM, Michael J. Died peacefully at his home in Sherborn, MA, surrounded by his loving family holding his hands on August 15, 2023. He was 86. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; and their six children: Michael and his wife Victoria, Lisa Crowley and her partner John Byda, Laura and her late husband Adilson Fonseca, Charles and his wife Amy, Brian and his wife Jennifer, and Nancy; in addition to his ten grandchildren, Matthew, Vanessa, Shauna, Marissa, Ciara, Olivia, Alexandra, Vivian, Thomas and Beatrice; as well as his dear sister, Penelope Reilly; his sisters-in-law Erika Kickham and Angela Hill; and his brothers-in-law Daniel Sullivan and Paul Grady Sr; as well as scores of nieces, nephews and friends. The son of the late Dr. Charles and Margaret Kickham, Mike was born in Boston, in 1937, and raised on Moss Hill Road in Jamaica Plain. He attended Boston College High School and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1958. He met his wife Nancy in 1954, and asked her to his high school prom. They spent the next 70 years side by side, married for 59, and kept busy with six children and ten grandchildren. He worked at Ford Motor Company for over 40 years and proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was most passionate about two things in equal measure: his family and service to others. A fixture in Sherborn since 1974, he was a tireless volunteer and served on countless committees and causes, and in particular served the Sherborn Boy Scouts Troop 1 as Scoutmaster for 25 years and up to present day continued to coordinate their annual Christmas wreath sale. His family was his other passion, attending the games, recitals and graduations of all six of his children and ten grandchildren. Good luck trying to get him to miss a game. He knew the names of every single one of his granddaughters' friends, boyfriends, and their teenage dramas. A masterful and hilarious storyteller, he also loved to listen to his grandkids' stories: their triumphs, failures and frustrations. His Grandkids called him "Grandapedia" because he always made the time to answer every single question they ever had. The love and dedication he showed for his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends was unrivaled. He will join in Heaven his dear siblings Charlie, Martha, Janice and her husband Dick, Peggy, Jimmy; and brother-in-law, John Reilly. A wake will be held at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK, from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 24. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Theresa's Parish, 35 S. Main St., Sherborn, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 25. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, W. Roxbury on Saturday, August 26, 2023. For directions & guest book please visit www.everettfuneral.com.

i was lucky and special enough to have had Grandapedia as someone I grew up with. I had met the lovely family of Sherborn back when I was just 5 years old having Marissa as my best friend and we were able to create so many stories from that point.. such as many drives in his car.. including even breaking down once! (Haha) endless beach trips growing up, dinners and ice cream, stories, and many many more experiences. He was such a thoughtful and kind human being who I will dearly miss every time I go to that house. I know that his warm presence will forever be there though when I step in, and the girls and I will continue to share his beautiful story. I am sending the most amount of love possible to every one of you, and I hope that you all know how much I love you guys.. Maris, Bu, Kiki, Lisa, Nancy, (Aunt Nancy too) cousins, aunts, uncles.. friends I´ve met through the years.. all of you guys.. you are all strong.. and I have the most amount of love and radiance for you people. Family is forever no matter what.

Sending love and light.
Lauren

Have fond memories of Mike as a track teammate at Holy Cross. Particularly the indoor meets at the old Boston Garden. Mike always had such a positive attitude as a competitor. An ideal teammate. Rest in peace, Mike

Dearest Nancy and Family, Heartfelt condolences being sent on the news of Mike´s passing. He was my first boss at Ford Motor company and will always be remembered as "One of the Best". I would call him Father Kickham ... always available to handle the ups and downs of office personalities and politics. He truly loved his family and was so proud of his children and their accomplishments and would keep me posted on all the highlights as they were growing up. He was more than a boss ... he was a friend. He will be missed when the retirees get together for our luncheons, but will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace ... his legacy lives on in those who were lucky enough to know him.
