Michael Kilcran Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMurrough Funeral Chapel - Libertyville on Feb. 3, 2026.
Michael D. Kilcran, 87, of Libertyville, Illinois, was called home to God on February 1st, passing away peacefully while surrounded by the loving family he cherished above all else.

Born on December 15, 1938, Michael lived a life grounded in deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Michael took his last breath holding the hand of his beloved wife, Lee (née Huntington), on their 57th wedding anniversary. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, commitment, and family. He was a proud and loving father to Jamie-lynn O'Shea, Michael II., Matthew, Erin (David) Kahn, and Daniel, and a devoted grandfather to Ashley, Ethan, Liam, and Evan, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

Michael was the son of the late James II and Margaret (née Eierdem) Kilcran and a dear brother to the late James III Kilcran (Victoria), Barbara (Alvin) Toral, and Lawrence (Eleanor) Kilcran.

Michael was the founder and owner of Medtec Medical, Inc. and Parasol Medical, Inc., companies he built with integrity, perseverance, and care for others. He took great pride in seeing his sons, Michael, Daniel, and his nephew Jim Kilcran continue the work he began. Michael also honorably served his country in the National Guard.

Outside of work, Mike found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener who took pride in nurturing what he planted, and he was a lifelong and passionate Notre Dame football fan. As a lover of the arts, he was a patron of the Lyric Opera and enjoyed classic movies, musicals, art museums, reading, and he was a man who appreciated a well-tailored suit.

Above all else, Mike was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of his life. His greatest love and accomplishment were his wife, children, and grandchildren, who remained the center of his world.

While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Mike's faith is now fulfilled, and that he has gone home to God, reunited with those who went before him. His love, his example, and his faith will continue to live on in all of us.

Visitation for Michael will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday February 5th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Friday February 6th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave., Libertyville. Private family interment at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers memorials made to Catholic Charities, 721 N La Salle Dr, Chicago, IL 60654 or Alzheimer's Association at http://alz.org would be greatly appreciated. Funeral info (847) 362-2626.
