Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army, a period of his life that instilled in him the values of discipline and service that he carried with him long after his military days were over. His commitment to his country was a testament to his character and his unwavering sense of duty.
After his military tenure, Michael continued his life of service with the Kansas City, Kansas police department. His 25-year career was marked by integrity and exceptional dedication, culminating in his retirement as a respected captain in 2011. His colleagues remember him as a man who led by example, always first to arrive in times of need and the last to leave when the job was done.
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. His passion for responsible firearm ownership and education was just one of the many facets of his multifaceted life. Those who shared his interests admired Michael's commitment to the principles he held dear and his tireless advocacy for the rights and responsibilities of his fellow citizens.
But perhaps Michael's most cherished role was that of family man. As a loving husband, he was a partner in every sense of the word, providing unwavering support and an endless supply of love. As a husband, father and grandfather, his gentle kindness was the foundation upon which many happy memories were built. His guidance and warmth shaped the lives of his children and grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Michael built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He married the love of his life, Adlene Ruth Kobe, and together they shared 52 years of marriage, creating a legacy of warmth and unity. Their family grew to include three wonderful children, Danielle Weston and her husband Frederick Weston III, Michael J. Kobe and his wife Laura Kobe, and Jessica Berger and her husband Matt Berger, all of whom brought immense joy to Michael's life.
