Michael Korjeff Obituary
MICHAEL KORJEFF
Michael G. Korjeff, 93, of Harwich Port, MA, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025.
Michael was born on April 1, 1932 in Paris, France, and grew up in West Boylston, MA and Fitzwilliam, NH. He was the son of Alice Lydia Burbank Korjeff and Gregory Michael Korjeff, and was known as Misha to family and close friends.
A graduate of Deerfield Academy, Dartmouth College, and The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, Mike served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Germany, then worked for 30 years as an investment officer for the State Mutual Life Assurance Company in Worcester, MA.
Fitzwilliam was where he met his wife-to-be, Anne Rayner. They started their family in Germany, and upon return, settled in Holden, MA, where they resided for nearly 55 years, raising 3 children. During this time, Mike served on numerous town committees, including the Finance Committee and the Town Government Study Committee, and was a Director of the Worcester Housing Development Corporation and the Holden Jaycees. He was also an outdoor enthusiast and took time to foster a love of the outdoors in all his children.
After retirement, Mike and Anne traveled and spent winters at Seascape Resort in Destin, FL, where they made many new friends, and summered in Fitzwilliam, enjoying the company of old friends and family. In 2014, they moved to Harwich Port, MA, but continued to summer in Fitzwilliam. Mike loved Laurel Lake, overlooked by Mt Monadnock, and swam there almost daily. He was an avid hiker, tennis player, and cross-country skier. Some of his greatest pleasures were playing and watching tennis, and accompanying family members and friends on hikes in the mountains.
Mike was an active supporter of many environmental organizations and volunteered many hours with the Rails to Trails Conservancy to create a Rail Trail through Holden. He enjoyed participating in wildlife research projects, hiking local trails, and observing wildlife from his property in Fitzwilliam.
Michael is survived by his daughter Wendy K. Bellows (Alan) of Boothbay, ME, son Gregory M. Korjeff (Linda) of San Carlos, CA, daughter Sarah K. Mumford, of Eastham, MA, and grandchildren Nicholas Korjeff, Parker Mumford, Jason Korjeff, and Rachel Mumford. He was predeceased by his wife in 2023.
A private service is planned for the summer. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Michael's memory may be made to the Monadnock Conservancy, PO Box 337, Keene, NH 03431
