Michael Kubiszewski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 6, 2025.
Michael Alan Kubiszewski left his loved ones unexpectedly on December 4th, 2025 at home in Minneapolis after living with an ongoing unknown illness.

Michael was born July 9th, 1954 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to Leonard and Verlo (Benz) Kubiszewski.

He attended high school at Kennedy High in Bloomington, MN. In 1972, at the age of 18, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and Korea until he was honorably discharged in 1975. After the Army, Michael continued traveling throughout the United States to places such as California, Colorado, and Louisiana. In 1983, Michael met Susan Schwilk in Minnesota. They wed on May 12th, 1984 at St Richard's Church in Richfield, MN. On October 2nd, 1984, they welcomed a baby girl. On September 18th, 1989, they welcomed a second baby girl. Throughout his adult life, Michael worked in several industries such as baking, blacktopping, window manufacturing, restaurants, fast food, and gas stations. He retired in 2016. When not at work, Michael was quite the handyman. He completed many home repair projects for his family and for friends. Over the years, his fast paced life slowed down and his time was well spent watching old westerns, MASH, news, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. The latter two often involved a friendly competition with his wife, Susan (she typically won when it came to Wheel of Fortune and he didn't seem to mind). When the weather was nice, Michael liked to draw on the sidewalks to get a chuckle out of anyone walking by. He had a deep love for music and could be heard either playing classic rock on his stereo or, even until his final days, attempting to play a tune on his harmonica.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers Danny and Greg.

He is survived by wife, Susan of Mpls, daughters Krystal of Mpls and Kandice of St Paul, grandson Taylor of St Paul, brothers Lenny (Sherry) of AZ, Joe (Pat) of CO, Steve of MN, Jeff of MN, sister Tammy of OH, and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

Celebration of life and service information will be provided at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made on behalf of Michael to the American Legion through their website at mylegion.org or through your local post.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
