Michael Lawrence "Mike" Kueffer

The world has lost a real legend. It is with deepest sorrows in our hearts that we must announce Michael Mike Lawrence Kueffer, returned to the Big Jesus of Everything on July 10, 2018. He was 67 years old.

Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois to parents Geraldean Geri South Kueffer and Walter Wally Karl Kueffer on August 2, 1950.

While considering careers from sandwich making to the priesthood, Mike s passion was firmly rooted in music. This led to many adventures including tours all over the country. Eventually Mike decided to hang up his microphone for a suit and tie and found himself very successful in the hotel world. This was a career that took him from the mainland to Maui, then on to Oahu, Guam, and even India.

After a 2002 motorcycling accident, Mike recovered from traumatic brain injury and eventually returned to Maui, the place he loved and called home since 1994. He never lost that rockstar charm. Anyone who knew him would say that he always had a big, gorgeous smile on his face and that he would light up any room with his presence.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Walter Kueffer; his brother, Mitch Kueffer; and his niece, Nicole Sunberg.

Mike is survived by his mother, Geraldean Kueffer; his children: daughter Sanna Root and husband Jeff; daughter Jessica Cooney and husband David; daughter Alanna Kueffer and son Michael Kueffer;
his grandchildren McKenna, Brooklyn, Danielle, Matthew, Joshua and Lily; his
siblings Sue Tarantino, Jenny Seitl, Julie Sunberg, Walter Wally Kueffer II, and Jackie Kueffer-Kyrouac.

Mike lived a passionate life through his music and career, but valued family above all else. At the end of the day, he just wanted to know that everyone was okay... that everyone was happy.

A celebration of life will soon be announced for family, friends and anyone who loved Mike and he would want just that: his family together, loving, laughing, singing, smiling and celebrating the Great and Beautiful Michael Kueffer.
