Michael E. Kuras, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at home the morning of January 1, 2025. He was born to Edward and Louise (Maslowski) Kuras on January 15, 1955.
Mike was a lifelong resident of Gaylord, Michigan. He graduated from St. Mary Cathedral School in 1973. He married his loving wife, Julie Cryderman on October 3, 1981. Together they raised six children and later adopted and raised four of their grandchildren.
Mike was a hardworking man, often holding multiple jobs at once. He started working for Nu-Way Supply Company in 1974 and continued working with them as they transitioned to Great Lakes Pipe and Supply until 2019. He also worked for many years as a seasonal worker for the Post Office, followed by many years at 7-11.
He was a member of the Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. He loved to spend time with his family, playing games on family game nights, watching football, and razzing his grandchildren. He was always good for a laugh, and a million questions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; children, Gary (Amy) Irwin of Gaylord, Chris (Holly) Irwin of Gaylord, Mary (Tiffanie) LaHaie of Gaylord, Jessica (Steve Zack) Kuras of Gaylord, Angie (Arthur) Griffore of Gaylord, and Anita Irwin of Gaylord; grandchildren, Austin (Alexis) Irwin, Chase Hellner, Wyatt Irwin, Josie Welch, Madison Irwin, Benjamin Welch, Hunter Welch, Elly Kuras, Sawyer Irwin, Aiden Viviano, Gage Zack, Colton Griffore, Adalyn Griffore, Asher LaHaie, Callie LaHaie; great grandchildren, Lennon Irwin and Alice Irwin; and two sisters, Rula (Larry) Guyot of Evart and Karen Peters of Vanderbilt; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Louise Kuras; his in-laws, Phillip and Alice Cryderman, and daughter, Kerri Welch.
Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Mary Cathedral, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, checks payable to: Julie Kuras, through the funeral home, 850 N. Center Avenue, Gaylord MI 49735.
