Michael E. Lako, age 77, of Ross Township, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 3, 2024; Beloved Husband of Carol J. ( Kruly) Lako; Father of George (Astrid) Lako, Joanne (Jonathan) Roithner, Joseph (Chi) Lako, and the late Michael (surviving Nicole) Lako; Grandfather of Violette L. Lako and Francine N. Lako, Michael and Astrid Lako, and Noelle Roithner; Son of the late Michael and Agnes Lako; Brother of Ray (Karen) Lako and Susan (Rudy) Ondrejco.
Relatives and friends received from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc.,3552 California Avenue at Davis Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:30 am in Christ Our Savior, St. Cyril of Alexandria Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to ALS or Parkinson's Foundation.
Michael was very active in the Slovak community as a member of the Pittsburgh Slovakians and Slovak Fraternals like the FCSU and NSS. He recently received the Director Emeritus Status at First Catholic Slovak Union for his many years of dedicated service. When he wasn't actively promoting the Slovak culture, he took his 30+ years of service to Conrail and Norfolk Southern home with him, building scale railroads with his 4 children over the years. He loved to bowl, golf and sing. He was the founder of the Choir at St. Gabriel Archangel Parish in Pittsburgh.
