Michael Lamb Obituary

Michael W. Lamb, 77, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Born on April 30, 1948, Michael, known to many as Mike, lived a life marked by service, leadership, and devotion to both his country and community. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he earned a degree in Finance from the University of South Carolina and rejoined the Marines as a commissioned officer. Over the next 18 years, Mike proudly served his country, embodying the values of honor and commitment that defined his military career. He was also a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Mike settled on Amelia Island, where he co-founded The Amelia Islander magazine. For seven years, he published stories celebrating local life and events. Later, he brought his financial expertise to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Mike was a founding member of N.A.B.P.S., and he maintained lifelong friendships with "pals" from his youth. He cherished mornings walking along the beach with his beloved dogs, Duke and, later, Duchess. Mike loved the beach. Combining his two loves - his dogs and the beach, Mike found peace in those daily early morning walks.

He was the eldest sibling and embraced that role with a strong sense of duty. His brothers and sister looked up to him as a natural leader and steady presence in their lives.

Mike is survived by his siblings Robert, James, Judy, and Chris. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Lamb, and his brother Wallace "Larry" Lamb.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 17 to honor Mike's memory and legacy.

May his steadfast spirit and enduring love for family, country, and community continue to inspire those who knew him.

Mike and I first met through our volunteer work with the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce, where we both were Ambassadors for years. I also advertised my Interior Design business in his and Bill's Islander Magazine. Mike was a stand up guy, and just the sweetest, kindest man. We shared a love for the beach and our dogs. My condolences and prayers go out to his siblings and family. Mike is loved and will be well missed! Rest in peace Mike.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mike was a great guy and a good mentor and friend. I worked with him for many years on the Amelia Woods Board. He would often have Duchess with him and let her play with our dog Huckleberry. I spoke to him last week and know he was hurting. I pray for your comfort. I will make a donation to the Nassau Humane Society in Mike's name.

Mike was a cherished friend for more than fifty years. He was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina class of 1974, and a Marine who served in Vietnam and subsequently earned a commission as a Marine officer. Semper Fi brother, and forever to thee.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I knew him as a NROTC Midshipman at South Carolina and reconnected with him briefly in 2009 when he was one of two of my former USC NROTC classmates to travel to Parris Island for my son's graduation from Marine Corps' bootcamp. I never forgot that extremely kind and inspiring gesture. My sincere condolences to all of Mike's friends and family at this very difficult time. May God bless and keep you all.

Semper Fi,

Mike and I joined the Marines together on the buddy plan in 1967. I was separated from him after graduation from boot camp. I got to finally see him at his home on Amelia Island just a few days before he passed. I'll never forget him or the time that we had together in the Marines. SEMPER FI marine, you will be missed very much.

Although our paths never crossed during our USMC Service, I do remember you from our "Service" at Rock Hill High School back in the '60's. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to your family and friends. Semper Fidelis my Brother! I wish you "Fair Winds and Following Seas".

Michael and I became friends at Northside school and remained friends throughout high school. He joined the Marines the first time on the buddy system with my first husband ( Bob Stacks ). We kept in touch over the years on Facebook. He will be missed.
