Michael P. Lenzo, of Kent, was born in Newcomerstown on January 26, 1932 to Carmelo and Sarah Lenzo. He was the youngest of seven children who grew up to become a man of great faith. On August 1, 1959 he married Mary Alice "Mitzie" Sawyer and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before he passed away on March 21, 2017. Mike attended Kent State University, and then went on to enjoy a career as an educator. His first position was as a teacher at St. Patrick's School. He then served the Ravenna School District as a teacher at Ravenna High School, assistant principal at Rausch Elementary, and then as principal at West Park Elementary. Mike went on to work for the Aurora schools as the principal at Aurora Middle School, principal at Harmon Middle School, and then as the Assistant Superintendent for the district. After a brief retirement he then again returned to one of his favorite places, St. Patrick's School, to serve as their principal. He was a devout member of St. Patrick's Parish where he served as a CCD instructor, Eucharistic minister, and parish council member. He volunteered his time at Robinson Memorial Hospital and he also installed LifeLine units. Mike enjoyed people, learning new things, and was a generous and kind soul. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many dear friends. He was a Navy veteran that served his country during the Korean War. Preceding him to life ever after were his daughter Therese Lenzo; siblings, Carl Lenzo, Joseph Lenzo, Victor Lenzo, Josephine Herbert, and Frank Lenzo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mitzie Lenzo; and brother, Arthur Lenzo. Father of Christopher (Kimberly) Lenzo of Carmel, IN, John Lenzo of Cuyahoga Falls, Michael (Caroline) Lenzo of Kent, and Lenard (Lisa) Lenzo of Kent. Proud grandfather of Gregory, Andrew, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Emily, Nico, Vito, and Sarah. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on April 1, 2017 at St. Patrick's Church. Calling hours will be held on March 31, 2017 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main Street, Kent, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family would like to thank all of the staff at The Gables of Kent Ridge for their continual kindness and compassion. The family requests that no flowers be sent, but if inclined, gifts can be made to the St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund, 127 Portage Street, Kent, OH 44240.

Mike Lenzo was perhaps the most kind, gentle and sensitive person/principal I ever worked with. I worked with Mike as a teacher at Aurora MS in 1972-73.
He really cared to make a positive difference in students lives.
I only worked with him a year, but I enjoyed every minute!
To his family, I am sorry it took 5 years for me to write this and I know how much you miss him!
Truly a Great Man!
Rest in Peace Mike!

My Uncle Mike was one of the best men I have know in my life. I have loved him so much ever since I was a little girl. He was always so happy and positive. I loved the stories he would tell me about my dad. He has left a huge footprint on this earth and will forever be here in our memories and our hearts. He will be missed so much but God has a very good angle up there with him now.

I have longtime memories of Mike and Mitzie living and raising their children on South Blvd. I will certainly miss those friendly waves to me at my little red house, as they drove to mass each day. To all the Lenzo family please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss and appreciation for having known your husband/dad/grandpa. Rest in peace, Mr. Lenzo.
Fondly, Barb Wagner

A soul set free is Mr Kenzie He was my principal and there was no doubt he loved what he did but more importantly he loved every student as if they were his own children I don't know how anyone could ever forget him As the Natalie Cole song unforgettable in every way yes you are I pray the family will honor his well lived and long life by continuing to love one another as he loved each and everyone of you He taught me what love is and how to show it because talking love is easy but showing love is proof of the gift of that I pass God's peace upon all of you and I know he has found sweet and eternal peace Thanks for sharing him with me He wasn't just a good man he was a mighty mighty good MAN!!!!
