Michael George Linzmeier, age 88, of Darboy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 18, 2024. Michael was born on March 19, 1936, to the late Charles and Margaret (Simonar) Linzmeier. Michael grew up on the family farm and, at an early age, helped on neighboring farms. At 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until January of 1957. After serving in the military, he returned to Wisconsin to continue working on the Strelka family farm in Freedom.
On June 15, 1959, Mike married the love of his life, Betty Vander Heyden. Mike and Betty made their home on County Highway KK, across from Holy Spirit Catholic Church and School. The Church was a central part of his life.
Mike worked for Kimberly Clark, which later became Mid Tec. He also started an appliance repair business that he ran out of their family home. In addition to his strong work ethic, he also wanted to help others, leading him to join the Civil Air Patrol. He loved flying and serving in the Civil Air Patrol. He also served on Grandpa Patrol for the Holy Spirit Parish. Mike had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Some of the family's fondest memories were the summer camping trips and their 3-week motorhome trip, covering most of the Western United States.
Mike is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; his four children: Cyndi (Roy), Patty (Brad), Mike (Donna), and Lois; his nine grandchildren: Matthew (Wendy), Tabbetha (Dan), Josh (Jenna), Paul (Amy), Marie (Jake), Justin (Kaitlyn), Lindsay, Kristen (Michael), and Kara (Ben); and his 17- (soon to be 18) great grandchildren. Mike is further survived by his brother, Jim Linzmeier, sister-in-law, Ginger Linzmeier, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his brothers; Larry, Donald, Clarence, Albert, Bob (Betty), George (Rita), Tony, Richard, and Charlie (Rita); his sisters: Laura, Dorothy, and Frances Linzmeier, and sister-in-law, Judy Linzmeier.
Visitation for Mike will be held at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – DARBOY CHURCH (W2796 County Road KK, Appleton) on Friday, October 25, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at 11:45 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon, officiated by the Rev. Carl Schmitt. Military Honors, conducted by the Kimberly American Legion Post 60, will immediately follow. Committal Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
Mike's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Country Villa Assisted Living in Little Chute, as well as Nurse Ben and CNA Ida of ThedaCare's Hospice Team, all of whom took such good care of dad.
