Michael Louison Obituary
A lifelong city resident, Mike was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute. He later went on to graduate from Cobleskill Ag & Tech. Mike first worked for Met Life as an insurance agent and Beech Nut. He then began his career with the State of New York working as an Examiner in the Tax & Finance Department, retiring in 2003.
On November 15, 1969 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Amelia M. Shiely Louison, who survives; one son, Arne Louison and his wife Candace; one grandson, Nicholas Conrad; four siblings, Mary Anne Luffman and her husband William, Arne Louison, James Louison and his wife Mary Ann and Mark Louison and his wife Gail; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Louison; and a sister-in-law, Yoshiko Louison.
Mike took great pride in his home and all of cars. He was a former member of the Rotterdam B.P.O.E. Lodge #2157 and always enjoyed a good conversation. Following retirement, he enjoyed working as a funeral attendant at Jendrzejczak Funeral Home and Rose & Hughes Funeral Home. He loved his family greatly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 10a.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 4p.m. until 7p.m. at Rose & Hughes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
